San Diego's 11th Annual Emergency Care Summit
Program Description
The Emergency Medicine Oversight Commission (EMOC) brings together all of San Diego’s emergency departments, hospital association, and ambulance community, to work on solutions to the vast problems in emergency care. The commission has spearheaded the successful ambulance diversion program, which has cut the hours of bypass in half and brings patients to their requested hospital. It has also been the initiator of the county wide STEMI program bringing acute heart attack patients to an appropriate cath lab. In this cooperative manner we believe we can improve the emergency healthcare system for the entire county.
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Recall successful measures and problem-solving ideas utilized at area hospital Emergency Departments (ED) designed to reduce ED door to discharge and door to admission times.
- Describe two learnings from the institution of the mass trauma protocols, after the San Bernardino Ca shooting.
- Identify and implement one “throughput best practice” within San Diego County.
