Surviving Litigation Seminar

Program Description

This seminar will provide insights into the physician personality and why the litigation process and lawsuits are so stressful for them. Physicians will learn constructive ways to cope with malpractice litigation stress and how to deal with the anger, anxiety, fear, depression, and emotional fallout while continuing to provide patient care. Attendees will also learn how the legal process functions, gaining a familiarity with legal jargon and deposition etiquette, to ease the transition from examining room to courtroom.  

Objectives

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Review constructive ways to cope with anger, anxiety, depression and emotional fear brought on by litigation while continuing to practice medicine
  • Discuss how to give testimony while adhering to the core competencies of professionalism
  • Describe the dynamics of the litigation process and how to meet the emotional challenges surrounding litigation and its impact on communication with patients.in their practice
