Risk Management and Informed Consent
Program Description
Informed consent is a risk exposure for physicians, in particular OB/GYN specialists. Regular review of informed consent law and concepts and education on a thorough consent process can help mitigate this exposure. This presentation will cover these concepts and offer suggestions for improving the process.
Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Identify who may give consent.
- Identify the types of treatment a minor is authorized to consent without parental authorization.
- Recall two elements of the informed consent process.
- Apply method to imporve the consent process.
