Program Description
In the United States over 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year and over 40,000 women die from breast cancer annually. Breast cancer is recognized as a leading cause of premature mortality among US women. Breast cancer screening has become increasingly confusing with multiple organizations and societies offering varying recommendations. This session will provide a review of breast imaging modalities and a review of breast cancer treatment modalities, including indications and options in breast surgical oncology.
Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Recognize two indications for screening and diagnostic breast imaging
- Analyze the benefits of tomography
- Differentiate breast cancer treatment modalities
