Sound Physicians - Crucial Conversations

Program Description

This 2-day course is taught by certified instructor (Jennifer Beals, MSW) who guides participants through engaging video examples, dynamic group discussions, and interactive in-class practice sessions. Designed to teach the skills demonstrated by those who uphold healthy work environment standards, this course delivers all the necessary tools for stepping up to and holding conversations that occur when stakes are high, opinions differ, and emotions run strong. Crucial Conversations skills include recognizing when a conversation becomes crucial, working on your perspective prior to entering a conversation, noticing signs of silence and violence, identifying the way you handle stress, creating an environment of safety, mastering your stories and emotions around the issue, speaking persuasively not abrasively, diffusing others emotions, and encourage others to share their opinions. This course utilizes Vitalsmarts’ Healthcare training track and is supplemented by the development of hospitalist-specific scenarios so as to contextualize the material being taught.
