Documents to Documentation: Protecting Your Patients and Your Practice
Program Description
Foundational tools are the policies, procedures, protocols, job descriptions, and documentation requirements your practice puts in place to guide and promote patient safety. The tools, which help to ensure practice standardization and thorough documentation, can offer valuable support during a malpractice lawsuit. This seminar is designed to further explain these elements and to help identify additional tools. Sample tools, break-out sessions, and case examples will be part of the program.
Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Explain the elements of effective policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Apply the elements to draft effective policies and procedures.
- Identify tactics to encourage and monitor documentation to maintain high quality.
- Recall the importance of standardization tools and their availability in defending care during a malpractice action.
