Program Description
Risk Management program requested by agent and account to address a gap related to documentation and general risk associated to their specialty Internal Medicine.
Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Recognize two ways that a physician has entered into a relationship with a patient
- Identify three reasons which may make the termination of the physician-patient relationship necessary.
- Discuss the patient termination letter and list the information that should be included.
- Explain the importance of timely documentation to patient safety and the minimization of risk.
- Explain four benefits of an E.H.R
- Detail three potential user errors when using an E.H.R system.
- Review strategies on how to become an effective E.H.R user.
- Discuss two components of an E.H.R security risk analysis.
- Review and compare malpractice claims data for internal medicine and Hospitalists.
- Discuss two types of malpractice claims that often result in increased severity of patient injury.
- Identify three strategies to decrease the risk for a malpractice claim.
- Explain the importance of disclosure
- Recognize the appropriate way to disclose an adverse event.
- Describe key steps in the disclosure process.
