Patient Relations: Spotlight on Challenging Situations (The Doctor's Advocate CME)

A recent review of our call data shows that “patient relations” and “patient termination” consistently appear as the top reasons that members request assistance. The following strategies can help prevent challenging patient situations and provide guidance if one occurs.

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Evaluate my practice conditions of treatment agreement for opportunities to describe practice expectations of patients.
- Maintain an ongoing dialogue with noncompliant/nonadherent patients to identify potential adherence barriers.
- Formalize patient termination with written notice (sent by first class and certified mail) containing information on the effective date, interim and continuing care provisions, and access to patient records.
