TeamSTEPPS® Teamwork Training in the Office Practice

Description

This course provides an overview of the evidence-based TeamSTEPPS® concepts, tools, and strategies based on the four areas of 1) leadership, 2) mutual support, 3) situation monitoring, and 4) communication. TeamSTEPPS training provides teachable/learnable skills that improve communication and teamwork among healthcare professionals in both acute care and ambulatory care environments. Based on over 25 years of research in various industries and nationwide implementation in healthcare, use of the teamwork and communication skills from the TeamSTEPPS program can produce highly effective teams that achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.

Objectives

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Educate my colleagues about the impact effective leadership tools, such as briefs, huddles, and debriefs, have on reducing risks to patients.
  • Assess my organization/practice for opportunities to increase situational awareness.
  • Demonstrate through my own actions how to provide mutual support to other caregivers.
  • Implement at least one strategy to enhance the communication among my clinical team.
