Making an Informed Consent an Informed Choice: Training for Healthcare Leaders

This course is designed primarily for healthcare leaders working in a hospital setting. A companion course, Making Informed Consent an Informed Choice: Training for Healthcare Professionals, is more applicable to non-hospital settings.
Informed consent requires clear communication about choices, and it is not simply a signature on a form. Improving informed consent is important because, even after signing a form, patients often do not understand the benefits, harms, and risks of treatment, possible poor outcomes, or that they can opt out. This course covers principles of an informed consent, crafting and disseminating an informed consent policy, and building systems to improve the informed consent process.
