Medical Board Investigations: What You Need To Know
Program Description
As regulatory intrusion on the practice of medicine continues, increased awareness of most common regulatory complaints and investigations is critical to protecting the practice of good medicine. Healthcare professionals have a poor understanding of the insurance coverage and adjudication processes for these matters. We will review the most common Texas Medical Board administrative actions brought against physicians and the process for responding to them. Strategies for preventing complaints and mitigating their impact will be discussed.
Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Identify the most common regulatory claims against healthcare professionals.
- List three steps to take in the event of receipt of regulatory complaint or notice of investigation.
- Describe risk reduction strategies for the prevention or mitigation of regulatory complaints.
