HIPAA Fundamentals
Program Description
This On-demand program provides an orientation to the basic requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). HIPAA gives patients many rights with respect to their health information. This program provides details on the HIPAA Privacy, Security, and Breach Notification Rules, such as the type of information that is protected, who must comply with the rules, and how patient information can be used and disclosed.
Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Create awareness concerning HIPAA regulations in my practice.
- Reinforce policies and procedures in my practice addressing privacy and security changes as a result of the Omnibus Rule.
- React expediently to breach notifications within the practice and educate staff about the consequences of a violation.
Deploy at least one significant HIPPA change in my practice based on the Omnibus Rule.
