Cybersecurity and Data Breaches

Program Description

This course helps physicians, dentists, and their office employees who are familiar with HIPAA rules but need additional training in cybersecurity to reduce chances of data breaches and avoid the threat of a cyberattack. The course helps to mitigate risks, monitor security, avoid penalties for noncompliance, and respond appropriately in the event of a cyberattack.

Objectives

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Define the liability associated with data breaches
  • Identify ways data can be breached and methods to avoid breaches
  • Assess your practice for cybersecurity risks 
  • Train employees on essential actions to avoid breaches
  • Take steps that can reduce cybersecurity risks 
  • Describe the reasons for developing an Incident Response Plan
