Telemedicine: New Tools, Emerging Risks
Program Description
This enduring webinar will review the types of telemedicine, its limitations and how it is rapidly evolving in a complex regulatory, technology driven and consumer-oriented environment. While the benefits of telemedicine are vast, its use and adoption must be tempered with caution. Health care professionals must be aware of the emerging risks associated with practicing telemedicine, such as regulatory restrictions, privacy and security, inaccuracies in patient self-reporting, and symptoms that may only be detected in person. We’ll also address strategies to reduce these emerging risks and the challenges faced by healthcare professionals to use telemedicine safely.
Objectives
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:
- Discuss three types of telemedicine and how it has evolved.
- Identify risks associated with practicing telemedicine.
- Apply strategies to reduce the risks associated with practicing telemedicine.
