Managing Orthopedic Risks - FORPG

Program Description

Closed claims data from the Physician Insurers Association of American revealed that the orthopedic specialty ranks fifth among all healthcare specialties in frequency of claims.  An analysis of closed orthopedic claims from The Doctors Company and the Physician Insurers Association of American revealed that most orthopedic claims resulted from systems error rather than faulty medical judgment or performance.  High risk encounters in orthopedics, as well as the most frequent presenting conditions, procedures, injuries and allegations are identified. This enduring program uses case studies and strategies aimed at preventing, reducing and mitigating inherent risks in orthopedics.
