Why You Should Care: Obstetrics and Personal Risk Management

Program Description

Addressing recurring themes in obstetrical cases with adverse outcomes should be a strategic activity for all physicians and nurses who staff obstetrics departments. In this recorded webinar, Dr. Larry Veltman addresses the questions, What changes are necessary to avoid perinatal injuries? and What forces are operating that inhibit these changes? Increased readiness for and recognition and management of complications as well as improved communications should work in concert to reduce the likelihood of difficult and tragic outcomes occurring in obstetrical practice.

Objectives

After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe two common obstetrical injuries to patients.
  • Name four characteristics of a high reliability perinatal unit.
  • Identify three risk strategies to reduce malpractice in the OB practice.
